Rammy Front-mounted Flail Mower/Flail Cutter
Rammy Front-Mounted Flail Mower for ATV
The Rammy Front-Mounted Flail Mower is a robust and efficient, high-quality flail mower designed for front mounting on your ATV. This placement gives you maximum control and overview of the cutting, making it easy to navigate around obstacles and in tight passages.
With a front-mounted flail mower, you see exactly what you are cutting in real-time and can easily lift the attachment with the ATV's winch for transport or when you need to pass an obstacle.
Key Features:
- Working Width: 100 cm
- Engine: Powerful and reliable 4-stroke engine from Briggs & Stratton (1450 series, 305cc)
- Start: Manual pull start
- Operation: On/Off control for the cutting roller mounted at the driver's seat.
- Cutting System: Supplied with durable Y-flails for brushwood and tall grass. Hammer flails for finer cutting are available as an option.
This is a tool built to last, suitable for both private use on meadows and pastures and for professional users such as contractors, municipalities, and associations.
Optional Accessories:
- Side Shift Kit: Allows the implement to be shifted 37 cm sideways, perfect for cutting along fences, buildings, and other edges.
Mounting and Compatibility
NOTE: Mounting bracket for your specific ATV or UTV model is sold separately.
The flail mower is designed to be attached to a center-mounted bracket under the machine or a front-mounted bracket.
If your ATV is already equipped with such a bracket (e.g., from Black Wolf, Warn, Bronco, or Iron Baltic), it can most likely be used.
A center bracket is somewhat more difficult to use for mounting the Rammy frame, but it provides a more even load and weight distribution when the Rammy Flail Mower or Rammy Brush Cutter is hoisted for transport to the garage or next work area.
The front-mounted bracket, along with the shorter frame, offers significantly higher ground clearance for the hoisted flail mower and is a great advantage for transport in tougher terrain. However, this mounting requires sturdy front shock absorbers, and pre-tensioned spring preload – ask us if you are unsure!
Attachment is easy with two pins, making assembly and disassembly quick and smooth. You use your ATV's front winch to adjust the cutting height while operating and to fully lift the implement for transport.
For ATV models with other types of brackets, such as "Click-N-Go" or certain original brackets, adapter plates are often available to ensure compatibility. Contact us to find the right solution for your machine.
...and a little more
Our most important advice for those considering a Rammy Flail Mower, Rammy Brush Cutter, or Rammy Lawn Mower:
- It weighs a lot - we do not recommend a small or medium-sized ATV with this attachment! You want the higher weight an 800-1000cc ATV or a UTV over 500cc offers.
- Standard suspension is not always sufficient!
- Look into the possibility of mounting an extra rope pulley to raise the Rammy machine, e.g., Warn Double Line Wheel - You get a smoother and more controlled lift, as well as double the strength from your winch.
- For ATVs, center mounting is generally recommended; for UTVs, front mounting.

Buying Guide and Maintenance Tips for ATV Flail Mowers
Using a flail mower with your ATV is an efficient way to maintain larger green areas, tidy pastures, and clear brush. The ATV's agility and low ground pressure allow you to access all areas without damaging the surface.
What is important to consider?
- Engine Choice: The engine is the heart of the flail mower. A quality engine from a renowned manufacturer like Briggs & Stratton guarantees not only high performance and reliability but also easy access to service and spare parts. Cheaper alternatives with engines of unknown origin can often lead to problems over time.
-
Cutting Equipment: Y-flails vs. Hammer Flails
- Y-flails: Standard on most models. They are excellent for tougher conditions with tall grass, reeds, and brushwood. Their shape offers less resistance and performs well even with medium-powered engines.
- Hammer Flails: Have a broader, straight cutting surface. Provide a finer, more even cutting result and are best suited for maintaining meadows and overgrown grassy areas. Generally require a bit more engine power.
- Drive System: Power from the engine is usually transferred to the cutting roller via a centrifugal clutch and drive belts. The clutch ensures that the roller only rotates when the engine is revved up. It is crucial to always run at full throttle for the clutch to operate correctly and to avoid unnecessary wear on the belts.
Tips for best results and long lifespan
- Run Rammy at full throttle: Cutting should always be done with the engine at maximum RPM to ensure correct function and cooling.
- Adjust speed: Reduce speed in tall or wet grass. If you hear the engine losing RPM, stop and let it recover before continuing.
- Regular inspection: Regularly check and tighten bolts and nuts, especially at bearing mounts. Don't forget to lubricate all grease nipples according to the service schedule.
- Keep clean: Clean the machine of grass and dirt after each use, especially around the engine and exhaust system to minimize fire risk.
- Service: Follow the engine manufacturer's recommendations for service. An initial oil change is often recommended after just 5 hours of operation.
- Winch wear: With repeated lifting, the winch cable/rope is stressed over a small area. Use a plow strap or a double-cable kit to distribute the load and extend the lifespan of your winch rope.
- Suspension: The weight of the implement can cause the machine's front end to "dip" when lifted. To maintain ground clearance, spring spacers can be installed in the front shock absorbers.
