Kress has existed for almost an entire century. During that period, we have never manufactured a single internal combustion engine. Something we will never do either. We are a company driven by a sustainability mindset, and for us, electric products have always been the future. Then as now. Compared to other brands, we think differently. While they have only recently realized all the benefits of electric motors, it has been our focus since the beginning. The history goes back to 1928 when Christian Kress started a workshop in car electronics. Quite soon after, Kress began both designing and manufacturing DC and AC motors. Three decades later – in the early 1960s – came the next step, as the range of products grew. This also meant that another factory, in Bisingen, Germany, was put into operation to manufacture stationary machines. Before the 1980s, Kress also launched an extensive range of professional, handheld power tools. In the next decade, the assortment was expanded with battery-powered tools, and a research and development center was established in Wattwil, Switzerland. Distribution also improved and eventually covered more than 60 countries through a network of specialized dealers. Recent years have been groundbreaking for Kress. In 2017, the brand joined the international giant Positec Group. The new capital and improved R&D capabilities meant that Kress went all-in to develop handheld machines for outdoor use. The revolutionary tools were a great success among commercial park and garden workers as well as private individuals looking for high-quality products. In 2023, the latest major milestone in the brand's almost 100-year history. Kress then launched the next generation of battery systems.
