Kress has been around for almost an entire century. During that period, we have never manufactured a single internal combustion engine. Something we will also never do. The history dates back to 1928 when Christian Kress started a workshop in car electronics. Soon after, Kress began both designing and manufacturing DC and AC motors. Three decades later – in the early 1960s – came the next step, as the range of products grew. This also meant that another factory, in Bisingen, Germany, was commissioned to manufacture stationary machines. Before the 1980s, Kress also launched a comprehensive range of professional, handheld power tools. Over the next decade, the range was expanded with battery-powered tools, and a research and development center was established in Wattwil, Switzerland. Distribution also improved and eventually covered more than 60 countries through a network of specialized dealers. Recent years have been groundbreaking for Kress. In 2017, the brand joined the international giant Positec Group. The new capital and improved R&D capabilities meant that Kress went all-in to develop handheld machines for outdoor use. The revolutionary tools were a success with commercial park and garden workers as well as individuals seeking high-quality products. In 2023, the latest major milestone in the brand's almost 100-year history occurred. Kress launched the next generation of battery systems.
