Tip: start the first mowing of spring with a "winter cleaning" of the lawn with the bagger installed. This often results in a neat and clean lawn throughout the season, which should also end with a collection cut.
Is the grass so high that you can see before you even start mowing that it will be difficult to get a nice cut? Then there are no good shortcuts; the grass should be mowed in two stages with one or two days in between to handle the harsh treatment in a way that maintains luster and a healthy lawn.
